At the beginning of 2021, the CLEAN CAPITAL ENERGY Group achieved another milestone at its “La Huella” project in Chile. After two successfully signed contracts in 2020, a contract with a third power purchaser has now been concluded.

Garsten, 1st March 2021. – In November 2019, the ground-breaking ceremony for the 87-megawatt “La Huella” solar power plant took place in the Chilean Atacama Desert, around 400 kilometers north of Santiago. After completion in 2021, around 225 gigawatt hours of electricity per year will be generated on an area of 145 hectares.

Already during the construction works in 2020, CCE Chile SpA, a part of the CCE Group, with its project manager Rene Hörwertner, succeeded in negotiating and signing two PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements) with national customers in Chile. At the beginning of 2021, an agreement has now been reached with a third local customer for the transfer of electricity. With these contracts, the purchase of 125 gigawatt hours of electricity per year is fixed for the next 2-4 years.

“The photovoltaic market is currently changing rapidly”, explains Rene Hörwertner, Managing Director of CCE Chile SpA, adding, “Today, it is no longer about offering just one service or services limited to one segment, but intelligent problem solutions that provide an answer to the individual challenges of the energy transition. The better you bundle services and products in one offer, the greater the customer benefit. The conclusion of so-called PPA contracts is therefore a decisive factor and we are very proud that our team in Chile has achieved this success.”

With the conclusion of this third power purchase agreement, the CCE Group in Chile has secured an important contribution to the financing and maintenance of the project for the coming years. In addition, Chile, which has defined very ambitious goals for renewable energy projects, is also taking another important step towards achieving them.
